Corpses

Decide which corpse each monster leaves, and what your rituals and events raise from the dead.

Every corpse in the game is one of eight "kinds". Each command takes a kind, and all but corpsekind and putcorpses also take a group: humanoid, animal or all. Leave the kind off and it's the game's own command.

More in the game's manual

The game's own corpse commands are in Illwinter's official modding manual, under "Ritual Modding" and "Events".

corpsekind <kind> New

Sets the corpse your monster leaves when it dies, whatever its traits. Goes after newmonster or selectmonster.

  • kind: One kind, or none for no corpse at all.
corpsekind largeanimal

Or no corpse:

corpsekind none
#!@corpsekind largeanimal

Or no corpse:

#!@corpsekind none

raisecorpses <kind> "<monster>" New

Raises that monster from the corpses of that kind on the caster's square, after the ritual's other effects. It works like Raise Dead: a random number up to the corpses there, using them up, with Raise Dead's insanity. With none of those corpses there, the ritual fails.

raisecorpses largeanimal "Fell Beast"
#!@raisecorpses largeanimal "Fell Beast"

raisedead <kind> New

Makes the game's Raise Dead use only that kind. raiseanimals does the same for Raise Animals. The game still picks what rises (the table above).

  • kind: A humanoid kind or humanoid for raisedead; an animal kind or animal for raiseanimals.
raisedead giant

Or raiseanimals:

raiseanimals largeanimal
raisedead giant

Or raiseanimals:

raiseanimals largeanimal

putcorpses <amount> <kind> New

Puts that kind on the caster's square instead of human corpses. 10000 and up still scales with the sacrifice.

  • amount: The number of corpses, as the game's putcorpses takes it.
  • kind: One kind.
putcorpses 10 giant
putcorpses 10 giant

The AI ignores kind(for now)

An AI player's cast ignores kind. Its putcorpses adds human corpses, its raises take every corpse they can use. Events and corpsekind work the same for everyone. This is a temporary limitation as it has AI implications not yet built out.

+mincorpses <amount> <kind> New

Makes the game's +mincorpses, -mincorpses and removecorpses count and take only that kind.

+mincorpses 20 human

Or removecorpses:

removecorpses 20 human
+mincorpses 20 human

Or removecorpses:

removecorpses 20 human

Corpse kinds

The eight corpse “kinds”
Kind Left by Raises as
small Humanoids with small, like the Goblins Little Longdead, Little Soulless
human Other humanoids Longdead, Soulless
giant Humanoids with size2x2, huge, or a sprite 101 pixels tall or more Longdead Giant, Soulless Giant
vanara ape 2 Longdead Vanara, Soulless Vanara
bandar ape 3 Longdead Bandar, Soulless Bandar
smallanimal An animal under 20 hp Longdead Animal, Restless Carcass
largeanimal An animal with 20 hp or more Longdead Beast, Carcass Beast
